Bob Rauschenberg in Florida & The Moon Museum: Apollo XII's Secret Art Mission

Join Jade Dellinger, Director of the Bob Rauschenberg Gallery at Florida Southwestern State College, as he introduces the work of American contemporary artist, Robert “Bob” Rauschenberg. In this illustrated lecture, Jade Dellinger will introduce the first Space Art object, the Moon Museum, a small collective artwork sent to the moon on the landing leg of the Lunar Module Intrepid during the 1969 Apollo XII mission. Artists Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol, John Chamberlain, Claes Oldenburg, David Novros, and Forrest Myers all contributed to this incredible and miniscule lunar collection. In the late 1960s, Rauschenberg also purchased the Beach House on Captiva Island. He would continue to live and work on Captiva Island until his death in 2008.

Presented in conjunction with Robert Rauschenberg: A Centennial Celebration on view March 1 – August 3, 2025
