Meet Tony Hernandez, acclaimed circus performer, author, actor and director, who will be signing his book, Circus Legends on July 26 from noon until 4:00PM in the Museum Store. The Museum store is located in the Visitors Pavilion. Museum Admission is not required to attend this event or visit the Museum Store. Drop-in anytime Noon-4:00PM and meet Tony!

Circus Legends  features some of the performers that made the circus glorious and wonderful. These are the artists from the golden age of the circus. A time when American families needed the circus as an escape from life. This book is a "then and now" of these amazing performers. Each rare, full page photo of the legend's "now" photo, captured in each of the retired circus performer's home) was taken by a photographer who was also born & raised in the circus.

About the Author
Tony Hernandez is a photographer also born and raised in the circus. Born into a large family of acrobats and jugglers, Tony was a performer from the age of two years old in the Hernandez Troupe teeterboard act. At six years old he was featured on hit TV shows including Captain Kangaroo, Kid's World and many others. A few years later Tony lived on a circus train and toured the country performing with Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus for 5 years. Most notably working with the world famous Wallenda family on the highwire performing the 8 person pyramid in Japan for the Guinness Book of World Records, as well as creating the highwire act in the hit Las Vegas show Absinthe. Eventually Tony moved towards acting and directing becoming a company member of the renowned Lookingglass Theatre Company in Chicago, where he acted in numerous productions and he co-created two acclaimed circus infused productions, Hephaestus, and Cascabel with Chef Rick Bayless (co-directed with Heidi Stillman). In New York Cirty, Tony acted in Lookingglass Alice on Broadway, served as the resident Artistic Director for the Tony Award winning Pippin the Musical and was the circus consultant for Broadway Tony Award winning musical On the Town. Tony now spends time between Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Sarasota focusing on writing producing and photography. Whether in theatre, film, books or photography, Tony aims to shine a spotlight on the wonderful circus world in which he was raised.
