Women artists have transformed the landscape of Japanese ceramic art, but how did they get here? Join Hollis Goodall, art historian and recently retired Curator of Japanese Art at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art as she traces the history of Japanese ceramic art in the 20th and 21st centuries. This illustrated talk will contextualize the exhibition Radical Clay: Contemporary Women Artists from Japan to explore how women artists in Japan broke into the ceramic art scene, made their mark, and ultimately achieved global preeminence as leading contemporary artists.
