A pencil, a blank sheet of paper and the pleasure of creating something. This workshop is an 8-week course in drawing techniques adapted for beginners to lifelong artists. Students will learn techniques covering still life, portrait, structure & landscape, and life drawing. Exploration and the pure joy of drawing is encouraged.

Craig Carl has been an illustrator, designer and artist for 50 years. His commercial background adapts to each students individual abilities to explore their own style.

About the Instructor

Craig Carl spent his professional career as a designer, illustrator, architectural designer and creative director. Moving to New York City after graduation from Tyler School of Art, Temple University his first freelance job for Doubleday Publishing was a portrait of George S. Kaufman for a best selling book, “George S. Kaufman & His Friends”. Craig’s work has included portraits for HBO, ABC, Thames Television, St. Martin’s Press, Doubleday, The NFL, NHL and Major League Baseball. He’s been a member of a national portrait society and currently works on private commissions.

Since moving to Sarasota in 2017 Craig has concentrated on painting and life drawing. His teaching is adapted to the individual at every level.

Lifelong Art is a workshop series in which participants come together for eight sessions. Workshops are sold in series and are not available for single-date purchase. Price includes all necessary supplies and Museum Admission for all dates during the length of the workshop.
