Frank Rampolla: Drawings From The Personal Sketchbooksrampolla2

January 17, 2012, 10 am to Noon

The Johnson-Blalock Education Center at the Ringling Museum, Rooms 1003/04

No RSVP needed

Frank Rampolla was schooled in the ways of the old masters and had an extraordinary classical knowledge of the arts and literature. With expertise in painting, printmaking, and sculpting, Frank Rampolla accepted a position in Sarasota, Florida to teach at the Ringling School of Art in 1960.  In 1965 he became the first living artist to have a one man show at the Ringling Museum of Art.  From 1968 until his death he taught at the University of South Florida.

Although many have experienced and appreciated Rampolla’s large oil paintings, none but a few close to him have seen his personal sketchbooks–– until now with the newly released book: Frank Rampolla, Drawings From The Personal Sketchbooks. This book is published on the 40th anniversary after his untimely death at the the age of 40.  (Permanent collections include the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C.; Lee Nordese Gallery in NYC; Philadelphia Museum in PA; The Library of Congress in Washington D.C. to name a few).

(For more information about purchasing the book ahead of time or about the artist visit www.FrankRampolla.com.)
